For our wax melts, we use Blended Waxes Pillar Soy Wax (BW-921). It is a much harder wax, especially made for such applications. It resists frosting and has an excellent hot throw. It has a much higher melting point than the soy/coconut wax we use for our candles.

It doesn’t tend to shrink and makes nice, smooth wax welts that give off a strong scent throw. There may be what appears to be a slightly oily-looking swirl on the top, but it is common in pure soy waxes and is nothing to be concerned with if you should see it.
