How to Care for Your Candle
Our candles are designed to take you to different worlds and open your imagination via scents inspired by works of fantasy! There are a few things you can and should do when burning though to ensure the best results (and for the safety of you and your family).
- Avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4-5 hours is recommended
- Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects
- Never leave a burning candle unattended
- Trim the wick to 1/4 " tall before every burn to keep the wax clean and burning nicely
- Allow candle to melt to the edge of the vessel. This prevents future tunneling.
- Keep out of reach of pets and children
A couple things to keep in mind about soy/coconut wax. It will often discolor when burned, so don’t be alarmed if the top gets a yellow-ish or tan-ish tint to it after it is burned for the first time. Once burned, you may see the top is no longer smooth either.
While burning, a bit of a flickering is normal, especially if there are any drafts. Likewise, a bit of sooting or smoke is normal. All candles do this and with the more natural waxes, the soot tends to be a white or gray-ish rather than black.
If you experience tunneling (where the melt pool doesn’t reach to the glass) in the first couple burns, make sure to trim your wicks and as the candle burns down, it will likely catch up after it reaches the middle of the container.
